Apple Appeal to Court to Uplift Ban on iPhone Sale Without Charger

Apple’s decision to go to court after Brazil imposed a heavy fine on the US technology company Apple for banning the sale of iPhones without a charger.

According to foreign media reports, Brazilian authorities have banned the sale of any iPhone without a charger in the country, since the iPhone 12 and fined Apple more than $2.3 million. Brazil argued that Apple was guilty of discriminating against consumers in addition to selling them an incomplete product.

Brazilian authorities have denied Apple’s position that not providing iPhone chargers to consumers was aimed at reducing carbon emissions. Brazil said there is no evidence that selling smartphones without chargers is good for the environment. Following the ruling, however, Apple officials said the company would continue to work with Brazil’s consumer protection agency, Cenacon, to address concerns and appeal the decision.
