As part of its digital wellness mission, the video-sharing platform TikTok will introduce two new handy tools to make it easier for the growing community of users to manage their time on the entertainment platform.

The new tools will allow users to have regular intervals of screen time, giving them control over their TikTok experience.

A new screen time dashboard will provide TikTok’s creative community with data on how much time they spend on the platform, including summaries of daily usage and how often they’ve opened the app.

Users can also choose weekly notifications to review their dashboard and monitor the time spent in a single session.

These prompts will remind TikTok users to take a break after a certain amount of screen time, which they can set to their liking and convenience.

TikTok will also introduce weekly digital wellness indicators for young users.

When users between the ages of 13 and 17 spend more than 100 minutes on the app in a single day, TikTok will remind them to use the screen time limit tool the next time they open the app.

With new screen time management tools, the platform hopes to inspire its community to think about their digital habits.

TikTok users will now directly tag and credit video creators using a button in the social media app.

Allowing users to tag, mention, and credit videos in posts will encourage people to credit their sources of inspiration.

When TikTok users want to credit another video, they can only credit the creator in captions or comments. The new feature will allow them to credit specific videos.

Kudzi Chikumbu, director of the creative community at TikTok, said in a blog post:

“These features are an important step in our ongoing commitment to invest in resources and product experiences that support the culture of credit, which is critical to keeping TikTok the home of creative expression.”

The Users will access the feature through the video page after posting or editing the video.

They can tag the videos they like, post, or use the same voices on the video page.

Additionally, TikTok will include user cues, such as pop-ups that will explain the importance of credit and encourage users to refer to original creators.

The feature comes nearly a year after the backlash from black creators.

For some time, TikTok has faced accusations from users who feel their original content face hijacked without proper credit.

Last April, Jimmy Fallon and Edison Roy, one of the most followed personalities on the social network, performed a series of popular dances on the site “The Tonight Show” without acknowledging the creators. It subsequently drew the ire of black consumers. In response, Fallon apologized and invited five TikTok creators to the show for his dance.

However, this hasn’t diminished claims that white content creators are stealing dances and memes from black creators, and last June, many black content creators posted plaques with the hashtag “BlackTikTokStrike.” Boycott form. The hashtag was used on various social media platforms and received millions of views.
